Healing from trauma can feel overwhelming. Sometimes, words alone aren’t enough. That’s where George, my certified therapy dog-in-training, comes in. George is a gentle, intuitive partner in my work, helping clients feel grounded, safe, and supported during some of life’s most difficult moments.

HOW GEORGE SUPPORTS CLIENTS

In my private practice, George is more than a friendly face, he’s part of the therapeutic process. Whether we’re working through trauma, processing grief, or managing stress, George provides:

  • Emotional Comfort: His calming presence can lower anxiety and create a sense of safety.

  • Grounding Support: Clients can connect with George through touch, helping them regulate emotions and stay present.

  • Connection in Crisis: His warmth often makes difficult sessions feel a little lighter.

- Working with First Responders & Departments -

I work closely with first responders who face high-stress, high-trauma situations. George plays a vital role in Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISDs), helping create a calmer, more supportive environment for processing difficult experiences.

By being present in these settings, George helps reduce tension, encourages openness, and offers a steady presence when emotions run high.

Training with 4Paws2Freedom

George and I train weekly with 4Paws2Freedom, a nonprofit organization that prepares service dogs for first responders and veterans living with post traumatic stress. This ongoing training ensures that George has the skills and temperament needed to support clients effectively in therapy sessions, group debriefings, and community events.
